PROJECT overview

ArtsEverywhere@CDC is a multi year community arts programme delivered across various heartland malls. The initiative was designed to bring cultural performances closer to residents, making the arts more accessible within everyday public spaces.

Running from August 2024 through March 2026, the programme featured recurring live activations showcasing diverse cultural arts groups. Each activation was tailored to its venue while maintaining consistent production standards, audience flow, and operational readiness.

The project required a delivery approach that balanced creative presentation with practical execution across multiple locations, timelines, and site conditions.

AUX ROLE

AUX was appointed from the early stages of the programme and took on overall responsibility for managing each activation from planning through on site execution.

Our scope covered creative support, technical production, lighting, audio, video, event management, and logistics. AUX coordinated design adaptation, technical setup, operational manpower, and live show support for every activation.

Multiple internal teams worked together across events, technical, design, and logistics to ensure consistent delivery despite changing venues and schedules.

PUBLIC OBJECTIVES

The programme aimed to showcase local cultural arts groups while fostering stronger social connections within neighbourhoods. A key objective was to make the arts visible and accessible to everyday audiences outside of traditional performance venues.

Success was measured through steady footfall, smooth on site operations, and the ability to support performances with reliable technical and design execution. The experience was intended to encourage appreciation of diverse cultural expressions in an informal and welcoming setting.

PLANNING AND DELIVERY

AUX supported the programme from August 2024, working within venue specific restrictions across different heartland malls. Each activation required site assessments, technical planning, design adaptation based on client provided key visuals, and coordinated operations on event day.

Production teams were deployed across events, design, operations, and technical roles, with setup and teardown typically completed within a two day cycle. AV systems, staging, and power supply were configured to suit each venue while maintaining consistency across the programme.

Operational planning focused on efficiency, adaptability, and minimal disruption to public spaces, ensuring activations could be delivered smoothly within active retail environments.

VISUAL HIGHLIGHTS

Live Cultural Performances

Each activation featured performances by cultural arts groups, bringing traditional and contemporary art forms into accessible public settings. The performances were supported by clear audio and lighting setups to ensure visibility and audience engagement.

Heartland Mall Settings

Activations were integrated into existing mall environments, transforming everyday spaces into performance venues. Careful layout planning ensured safe audience flow while maintaining visibility for shoppers and passersby.

Stage and Technical Setup

Compact staging and AV systems were designed for flexibility and speed. The setups balanced clarity and presence without overwhelming the surrounding retail environment.

Audience Interaction

Audiences were encouraged to stop, watch, and engage naturally. The informal setting allowed for spontaneous participation and exposure to cultural performances among diverse age groups.

Our Scope of Work

This programme brought together several AUX service areas focused on repeatable public activations.

Tech Advisory and Support

Our technical team planned and supported all on site systems, including audio, lighting, video, staging, and power supply. Each setup was adapted to venue constraints while maintaining consistent production quality and reliable operations.

Events and Festival Management

AUX managed the overall planning and delivery of recurring community activations across different heartland malls. This included scheduling, site coordination, logistics planning, and live show operations to ensure each activation ran smoothly and safely within public spaces.

Video Production

Video support was provided where required to enhance performance presentation and document the activations. This ensured performances were clearly visible and could be used for internal reference or programme reporting.

Design

AUX provided design support by adapting client supplied key visuals into production ready layouts and stage elements. Designs were developed to work across multiple venues while remaining clear, functional, and visually aligned with the programme’s objectives.

Place Making

The activations transformed everyday mall spaces into welcoming cultural environments. AUX focused on creating layouts that encouraged natural audience gathering, clear sightlines, and a comfortable viewing experience within shared public areas.

OUTCOMES AND IMPACT

The programme was well received by both the client and the public, with feedback indicating strong satisfaction with execution quality and operational support. Performances consistently attracted audiences and achieved the goal of making cultural arts more accessible.
